Good afternoon to the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce,
NYCON, OCCA, Otsego 2000, Lion's Club, Rotary Club, and NYSHA,
As a "thank you" for always being such wonderful
collaborators and supporters of the Smithy, I'd like to offer members of your
respective organizations $4 discounts on theatre tickets for the production the
Smithy is mounting this upcoming weekend! (That will make tickets $14 for
adults, $11 for students and seniors, and $8 for children-- though children
view with caution as there is adult language).
The play is absolutely wonderful and features a honky tonk
band. I sincerely hope we have sell out crowds because it's the only way
we'll be able to keep producing live theatre! If you would each please
spread the word to your membership, I would appreciate it very much. The
announcement I did via email last week is below, so please feel free to forward
it to your lists with the notice of the discounted ticket price. If the
images don't appear, please click the link ("Having trouble... Click
here.") to be re-directed to a free-standing web-page with the
announcement.
Tickets can be purchased at the Smithy Gallery (55 Pioneer
St.) Tuesday- Saturday from 10-5 pm or reserved over the phone
(547-8671). If anyone has a contact at the Veteran's Club, please forward
to me as I would like to offer free tickets to their members. (The show,
Laundry and Bourbon and Lone Star deals with issues of war and returning
Vets in an often humorous but also deeply moving and dramatic
way.)
Thank you so much-- I so enjoy working with all of you and
look forward to a future jam-packed with exciting collaborations!

Live
Theatre in Cooperstown
Laundry & Bourbon and Lone Star
Featuring A Honky Tonk Band at Cooperstown Theatre
Festival
|
Cooperstown, NY - Smithy Center for the
Arts' Glimmer Globe Theatre Company presents Lone Star and
Laundry & Bourbon at the Coopertown Theatre Festival on
Friday, July 13th and Saturday, July 14th at 8p.m., and Sunday, July
15th at 3 p.m. The two paired, one-act plays by James McLure are
directed by Steve Dillon and Danielle Newell and feature a Honky Tonk
Band led by Darcy Gibson. The plots are intricately tied together and
each features three actors-- Lone Star with three men, Laundry
& Bourbon with three women.
Originally commentaries on the Vietnam War, the
plays are filled with clever comedy, artful dialogue, and
thought-provoking conversations and relationships that provide an
entertaining and winning experience. The plays are pertinent to our
world today in their telling of how war affects veterans and their
families once they have returned home.
This production is an exciting new partnership
between members of Oneonta Theatre Stage Players and Cooperstown's the
Smithy. The actors and directors draw from throughout the region.
Performers include Jessi Denison, Cassandra Miller, Kate McKenna, Tio
Schluter IV, Jake Wansor, and Chris Thorington.
Lone Star and Laundry & Bourbon tickets
are on sale now at Smithy Center for the Arts located at 55 Pioneer
Street in Cooperstown; $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors,
$12 for children under 12. Veterans are free. Group rates available.
Reserve in advance to ensure seating or purchase at theatre day of
performance. The plays involve adult language and themes,
